Our Family Vacation!

Our first family vacation was a great success! We went to Sanibel Island, Florida. We wanted to go somewhere warm, tropical, and fun for all ages. Sanibel fit the bill- and cost a lot less than my first choice...Hawaii! The kids had never had the opportunity to swim in the warm ocean-they loved it. They thought it was cool that they could walk out quite a distance before they got over their head. The shells and animal life were plentiful. The speedy lizards are everywhere and they provided endless fun for the boys- and I was amazed that they were successful in catching a couple of them. Lizard hunting could have been the only activity that we did all week and the boys would never have been bored! Brogan noticed that in Florida they have lizards, while in WA we have plenty of Pacific tree frogs (which they could hunt all day too!). We stayed at a beautiful resort with 5 pools, beach frontage, and a harbour view-kid heaven. We decided to go when public schools were in so that we could avoid large crowds- and we were happy with that choice. We had the pools and the beach all to ourselves most days. On the clearest day of our stay we chartered a boat from Captiva Island and we went to a remote island to snorkel and hunt for more shells. At the island we found an amazing amount of crabs- and when we walked up on them they took off in mass like ants when you disturb their anthill. It was amazing- we had never seen so many crabs! Brendan found a star fish- which he tried to keep, but it was still alive, so he let it go. We all found some pretty shells, saw dolphins-one even swam and dove beside our boat in our wake-we saw beautiful birds (we all loved the pelicans:) )- and even a bald eagle. The kids got along so well- it was great to see their teamwork on little missions they created on the beach. Delaney enjoyed the pool, but she wasn't as happy with the big waves of the Gulf. She is such a happy baby- as long as she gets her nap she is ready for anything we decide to do.

All of the children were fantastic on the planes. At the airport the boys made friends with other children. It started out with a few kids, and pretty soon it looked like a kid's club where they were playing. Brendan also made a friend on the plane- he shared his IPod and video game with him, and he drew him pictures. Delaney slept most of the time, and we all enjoyed taking turns holding her and entertaining her (or her us!). Aidan enjoyed holding Delaney (he can make her laugh like no one else), and Brogan fell asleep on the plane to Seattle- which created a monster at landing! All-in-all the flights were painless, and the passengers that surrounded us all complimented us on the kids behavior.

After a very long blog break..We Are Back!!!

My apologies to anyone who has checked this blog over the past several months. I needed a break- but now I am excited to take it back and hopefully add to it at least weekly.

We had a great summer here in Washington. The boys swam in our pool multiple times a day, they played soccer in the front yard most evenings, went tubing in Idaho, enjoyed the YMCA's wrestling clinic and basketball clinic, caught dozens of frogs in our own back yard, and just enjoyed the lazy days.

Delaney is amazing. She is now 6 months old. She loves her brothers and they love her. She has them wrapped around her little finger! They each compete to see who can make her laugh the hardest.

Fall is already in the air here. The kids are getting antsy- just in time for school break to be over. We are all excited about this year. Brendan is a 3rd grader, Aidan a 1st grader, and Brogan is a K-5er. It will be a great year. We are starting a year round schedule this year. We will school for several weeks and then take a week or two break depending on the time of year. Our first break will be at the end of September when we go on our first real family vacation! We will be heading to Sanibel Island to swim in the Atlantic and collect sea shells!

I hope you had a wonderful summer and that your fall is equally great.

Love,

Lisa

Finally a nice spring day!

We took advantage of the beautiful day! Delaney is looking posh in her shades and pacifier- and Brogan is finding success without his training wheels. He has been tentatively giving it a shot for a couple of weeks, but today he was ready to soar on his own! He just needed a fantastic day and a bit of encouragement! Now he needs to work on steering:).

Brogan- No more fear!

Brogan has been doing an amazing job with his swim lessons. He is now only wearing 1/2 of a floaty on his back- and is ready to go without that one. Here he is diving in...fearless. A long way from the boy who declared "I am NOT going in there" a couple of months ago! We are proud of him!

Private Blog

I decided to make this blog private because I am not able to post pictures of Delaney if the blog is public. I will be posting soon on the amazing story of how Delaney came to us. We are all so in love with this beautiful girl. It has been a joy watching the boys cherish and cuddle her. Brogan can't kiss her enough and he tells her all the time that he loves her. All three of the boys fight over holding her, and who had more time with her. She has already been a blessing to our family.

Swim Lessons Update-

FYI- If you look on the left you will see that the Youtube video bar has been updated to show BQM's first day at swim lessons. Start with the bottom swim video and work your way up to see the actual progression. Listen closely- his words are priceless:-).

BQM's first swim lessons...From terror to apathy!

This boy takes warming up to any activity. Swim lessons are no different. He was adament that he was *NOT* swimming. In the end he did pretty well. I could't figure out how to link the video directly, so here is a link to my Youtube site. Go in order (the 3rd is actually the 1st). Scroll down to view videos.

To blog or not to blog...

I am surrounded by blogs and bloggers. I really enjoy visiting them and catching up on the happenings in the lives of people I know and many I don't know. I have decided to dive into the world of blogging...mainly to provide a photo journal for my family and friends to keep up with the happenings in our lives. From time to time I may post updates on our adoption journey and milestones that my always exciting boys achieve-and I may even include a weekly report to share what we are working on in school- but my intention is to share our lives through pictures. Thanks for joining me!
